“There will be a time when we will love humanity, when we will gain the courage to fight for an equitable society for our beloved humanity, knowing, intelligently, that when we fight for humanity, we are fighting for ourselves.”
— Ibram X. Kendi, from Stamped

We believe in love—and aspire to lead with our love of humankind through our work.

We believe Black lives matter. We believe Indigenous lives matter. There is no greater force in our universe or beyond that teaches otherwise. Love of each other is philanthropy.

We stand in solidarity with people who are vulnerable because of the systems that cause their situation. We stand with fellow humans who have been abused, taken advantage of, enslaved, and not allowed to flourish because of systemic racism, implicit bias, and overt hate.

Complacency is complicit. Systemic racism and bias are real in our community and our world, and does not have to be—each and every one of us gets to decide with our individual freedom if we will allow it to go on. The United States champions individual freedom. If you, too, believe in that ideal, it is within each of us to act to reform systems and find equity in the United States.

We continue to work toward a better understanding of the power of individual decisions and actions. We will take all we learn and employ our agency to stand up to racism, to confront and change systemic racism, and tirelessly work against implicit bias.

At this time, we express our commitment to the idea of America—of love—in the following words and commit to living them:

We listen and trust

We listen to and trust Black and Indigenous voices when they speak up about racism, because their voices are the only authentic expressions of their experiences.

We use our voice

Most importantly, we recognize our privilege and will use our voices to stand up against white supremacy because it is necessary to do.
