Eric McDowell, MFA

CONSULTANT
(He/HIM)

Eric McDowell joined The Numad Group’s Boston office as a senior communications associate in spring 2021. In his role, he works with clients on brand development, media relations and storytelling, and strategy.

After graduating from Colby College in Maine in 2010, Eric moved to Ann Arbor to start an MFA in fiction writing at the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, he studied with and among many brilliant writers, won the Chamberlain Award for Creative Writing, and met the poet who would become his wife. Following a one-year postgraduate fellowship, he remained at the university teaching undergraduate composition and argumentation.

Returning east in 2016, Eric transitioned into marketing and communications, joining a mid-size agency as an editor managing content programs for a range of clients, including several Fortune 500 brands. Notable publications Eric managed included a career and education blog written by and for medical students, residents, and physicians and a content hub dedicated to all things sustainable and impact investing. Across his content marketing work, he most enjoyed developing fluency in niche topics, collaborating closely with writers and subject matter experts, and seeing readership grow through organic search traffic.

As a writer and editor, Eric is passionate about helping those he partners with tell compelling and authentic stories and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways. He lives in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, where he spends his free time writing music reviews, editing the website Fiction Writers Review, and exploring the city’s green spaces.
